To our way of thinking, the culinary experience on vacation in the Colorado Rocky Mountains is as important as the awesome scenery and activities at the ranch. Our aim is to make each meal exceptional –whether it be breakfast on the trail, lunch on the deck of a cabin, a picnic at riverside, or dinner in the openair pavilión.

Meals at Smith Fork Ranch are far more than an occasion for replenishing the energy spent in an active day. We try to make every meal at the Smith Fork Ranch a relaxing event that embellishes your time spent with us.

Our chef, Jim Ackard, prepares fine cuisine that features local ingredients such as game meats, lamb, poultry, trout and Western Colorado's excellent fresh produce and fruits. The wonderfully prepared natural and organically grown foods, the selection of truly special wines and beverages, the friendly gracious service, all come together in a splendid atmosphere, indoors and out.

In Western Colorado, superb fresh meats, fish and wild game are in abundance, and some of the best fruits and vegetables in the country are grown nearby. The Hodgson family's long standing interests and relationships in the wine industry have yielded a private cellar of superior wines from the U.S. and abroad - more than 250 selections.

Whether on the ranch or on the trail, guests staying at the Ranch will enjoy three wonderful meals each day. It's tough to beat a backcountry meal prepared at camp by a ranch chef after a day spent in the saddle or a morning spent fishing on the river.
